Start with two separate beakers and add phase A ingredients to the main beaker and phase B ingredients into your other beaker.
Heat up both beakers with stirring until they reach 70oC. Then, carefully, add phase B to phase A and blend them together. You will see the emulsion form as a white glossy liquid which indicates that this has worked!
Once your emulsion has cooled to around 30oC, add the phase C ingredients so that they don’t lose their properties in the heat of the emulsion making process.
Finally, blend everything together with a blender until you have an even and glossy cream texture. Check the pH and adjust it to around pH 5.5.
Tips and tricks for caring for sensitive skin
Selecting the right products is one of the most important things you can do to take care of your sensitive skin. Opt for mild, gentle formulations specifically designed for sensitive skin types. When in doubt, carry out a patch test.
Firstly, choose a gentle, non-foaming cleanser that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Gently massage the cleanser into damp skin and avoid scrubbing too hard. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat it dry with a soft towel
Apply a light layer of your moisturiser twice daily to help repair your skin’s barrier function, which will help protect it from further irritation. If needed, you can add in an oil too, such as avocado or jojoba oil to lock in moisture and restore the balance of the skin.
